1920s Art Deco Walnut Mantel

An unusual walnut mantel with three lobed shelf and burr walnut frieze.

The striking feature of this Art Deco mantel is the profile of the top shelf with three demi-lune overhangs supported by symmetrical bolection mouldings mounted on the beautifully figured and book-matched burr walnut frieze.

The legs have a subtle step back to both sides and at the top of the piece where they form raised corner blocks in an echo of the stepped forward block feet.

The opening is also stepped back and framed with a simple three piece fillet.
